About the Transverse Myelitis Society
Neurological conditions can be incredibly isolating, but you don’t have to face them alone. The Transverse Myelitis Society is here to offer support, ensuring that everyone affected by TM has a compassionate and understanding community to turn to.
About Us
UK Charity Established in 2004
We are a small UK-based charity with over 2000 members, dedicated to whose main supporting individuals affected by Transverse Myelitis and its associated conditions, including Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) and others. Our organization is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, most of whom have firsthand experience with TM.
Why our Work Matters
Transverse Myelitis is a rare condition, affecting approximately three to four people per million. Many individuals with TM may never meet someone else with the condition, and even their general practitioners may have limited knowledge about it. This can make TM an isolating experience.
We believe it is crucial for those affected to connect with others who understand their challenges. Neurological conditions can be isolating, but with the right support, no one has to face them alone.
Our Support Services for Members
We provide support via Support Group meetings and are happy to answer telephone calls from TM patients, their families and friends. We have also held significantly impressive Conferences with world class speakers who are leaders in their field.
