Meet Others with TM

Even with modern communication, many TMers have never met anyone else with TM! TMS aims to change that. Once you try it, most members find meeting others with TM not only useful but also fun!

Monthly Zoom Meetings for Members

Since 2021, the Transverse Myelitis Society have been hosting regular monthly Zoom meetings for members. Meeting online is an opportunity for TMers to meet each other without the difficulty of travelling long distances, to discuss topics of interest like vaccinations, exercise, nutrition, pain management, medical research etc. There is no agenda for the meetings and no recording. We usually have 10-15 members attending, including 3 or 4 newly diagnosed TMers. The meetings last for 60-75 minutes. For many new members these Zoom meetings are their very first opportunity to meet someone else with TM!

Spouses and other family members are welcome if pre-notified, and members from outside UK, although note the meeting is in English. The Zoom meetings are for TMS and SRNA MEMBERS ONLY.

Monthly meetings are hosted on the SECOND MONDAY EACH MONTH AT 7PM – this is subject to change by group agreement.

Email lewgray@myelitis.org.uk if you are a TMS member and you would like to attend the next Zoom meeting. Lew will email you the Zoom meeting link, and a few tips for less experienced Zoom users.

Face-to-face Support Groups

During the pandemic years many TMS regional Support Groups ceased meeting. However, two excellent Support Groups still meet regularly:

The Midlands TM Support Group continue to meet quarterly in Lullington village in south Derbyshire. Please see below for more information and upcoming meetings. 

The Scunthorpe TM Support Group meets regularly in North Lincolnshire. Email philip.smith@myelitis.org.uk for details.

TMS continues to support the formation of new Support Groups and local meet-ups, with advice and financial support.

Time: 2-4pm
Location: Lullington Village Hall, Lullington Nr Swadlincote, DE12 8EJ

Doors open an hour before for those who’d like a drink before the meeting starts. All are welcome, including family members, carers, and friends. During the meeting, carers will have the opportunity to get together for a separate chat.

Refreshments, including homemade cake, will be served.
