Spinal Injuries Units & Rehabilitation Centres

For most centres the emphasis of the service is on “the provision of intensive specialist therapy and support in life planning for people faced with a sudden decrease in ability level following  stroke, injury, accident or neurological condition”.

  (A) NHS Neurological Rehabilitation Units

These are attached to Regional Neurological Centres and a TM patient might be transferred to one of these by the consultant neurologist at the centre you are attending if therapy were needed to help your recovery.

  (B) NHS Spinal Injury Units A patient who has lost the use of their limbs as a result of TM is in a very similar situation to anyone with a spinal injury and you might be referred to a Spinal Injuries Unit. These units are not attached to the Regional Neurology Centres. They are listed below so you can identify any near your home.
